Not yet Reaches #1 on Recochoku

The power of the unstoppable idol machine that is AKB48 is at it again ,this time it is the sub unit Not yet`s turn for glory.

On February 14 the group released their single “Shuumatsu Not yet” for Chaku Uta rankings and it took all of two days for the single to sale enough to place #1 on the weekly rankings. The last group to accomplish this feat in such a short amount of time was EXILE in 2005.

The CD version will be out on March 16 and the song is being used as the theme song for the drama “Dr. Irabu Ichiro”

AKB48 Debuts at #1 W/Sales Of 655,000

The super idol group that is AKB48 continues it`s strangle hold on number one and record breaking sales as their 20th single “Sakura no Ki ni Naoru” entered the daily charts at number one with single day sales of 655,344. This sales number gives AKB48 a real chance at it`s second straight million selling CD as “Sakura no Ki ni Naoru” outsold “Beginner’s” opening day totals 655,344 to 568,095.

With market analysts already projecting “Sakura no Ki ni Naoru” to follow “Beginner” and cross a million in sales, is this becoming the new sales standards for AKB48? moreover, will their fans now consider their releases sales failures if they do not cross a million in sales?

With AKB48 coming out of the starting gates strong and setting a tone for the year ,how will the other major power groups plan to confront this seemingly unstoppable idol force ?

Takahashi Ai: “Bittersweet Angel: Fumina’s Story”

Morning Musume leader Takahashi Ai is co-staring with Sakurada Dori in a drama called “Koi Choco“.

“Koi Chocó” is a collaboration project between BS-TBS and confectionary Morinaga Seika’s “Carre de chocolat” product. This drama is different then your traditional dramas as it are an “ARV (Argument Reality + VTR) drama”. ARV dramas are “Koi Choco” app for Android phones. Each episode can be acquired by snapping a photo of a “Carre de chocolat” package. Since there are four kinds of “Carre de chocolat” flavors, fans can collect four different videos from the drama!

The drama has two different stories: “Bittersweet Angel” (Takahashi and Sakurada) and “Amadan” (Matsushima Shota and Murakami Haruna). Each story comes in different versions allowing fans to follow the episodes from different viewpoints.

For “Bittersweet Angel”, fans can grab “Fumina’s Case” and “Anju’s Case“, while “Amadan” has “Mero Drama Version” and “Seibugeki Version“.


“Bittersweet Angel: Fumina’s Story”
This is the “Fumina’s Case version, which follows Ai-chan. In this version, Ai plays Fumina, a girl who cannot find the courage to confess to her crush on Valentine’s Day.

Ai is visited by the angel Anju, who helps her with confession and her present. Fumina ends up falling into a forbidden love with the angel. Will Fumina end up heart broken or will the angel return to grant Fumina her true love.

9th Gen is starting to show up in Ai-chan`s blog and Reina had dinner with them recently .

Just when I thought that, she did it easily (lol)
Of course, more than the vibrant feeling of the strawberry, the chocolate monotone, plus the funny face might be more Zukki-esque

SKE48: Ready For Some Pizza [Nat Endorsement] +PV Preview

SKE48 has landed their first national endorsement with a thirty-second CM support song for Pizza Hut's new “Hot Value Series.” SKE48 will be featured in a national campaign ad demonstrating how warm and gooey the cheese on the pizza is during the CM.

SKE48 will support this ad with their upcoming single “Banzai Venus.”

SKE48 members are known to be pizza lovers, Matsui Rena expressed her feelings for the new campaign by saying “Just imagining you fans enjoying your pizzas and SKE48 cards makes me feel a warm happiness.”

Pizza Hut’s “Hot Value Series” will be available beginning March 7, while the CM will begin broadcasting in the first week of March. Those who purchase an item from this new menu will receive an exclusive SKE48 trading card .

Idoling!!! Visit Taiwan

Idoling!!! Made their first overseas trip to Taiwan this week in support of their album “SUNRISE”. “SUNRISE” was released in Japan last March and is now being released in Taiwan.  1,000 fans gathered to watch the group perform six songs and member MC`s.

Leader Endo Mai addressed the crowd to tell them of the group's goals for Taiwan, by announcing “I hope you will get to know Idoling!! Much better today!”

Member Kikuchi Ami expressed her excitement over the event by saying “I was really impressed that our Taiwanese fans memorized and shouted all of our names.”

AKB48 Trainee Promotion

AKB48 Trainee Promotion

AKB48 research member Nakamata Shiori (18) announced to the live event crowd yesterday that she would be entering Waseda University’s school of politics and economics.

Nakamata told the crowd “I’ve thought about quitting either AKB or school many times, but I was cheered on to do my best at both”.

Nakamata who for a year and half now been a substitute member of AKB48 Team B  was next shocked by a surprise announcement letter from AKB48 producer Akimoto Yasushi.

Akimoto announced that because of Nakamata`s hard work at both school and with AKB activities that she was being promoted into AKB48 regular  team membership  .It is expected that she will become a member of Team B.

Akimoto based his decision on the fact that Nakamata has mastered the pressure of work; she goes to dance practice and during her breaks, she always studies. She has never neglected her studies.

After Akimoto made the announcement Nakamata broke down, cried in front of the crowd, and managed to address the crowd.

“I want to do my best so I’m not hidden by the others. I will be aware of my facial expressions during performances. I want to become a Senbatsu member”.
