9nine: "Shoujo Traveller" PV

After quite some time, 9nine is back on PIH with the release of their PV for Shoujo Traveller, which will come out in one week.

This is a very mesmerizing and enticing video with the whole futuristic-agent theme and makes me think of PV's such as Perfume's Laser Beam or Buono!'s My Boy. Their choreography is, just as expected from them, fun and creative, and their execution of it gives it justice, for sure. The shots with them in the blue outfits look sort of mismatched with their faces compared with the overall theme, but I can't deny the fact that it makes the PV cuter. The song itself and the sounds of their voices also match the theme of the video, with techno sound effects and robotic-sounding harmonizations in the verses. Plus, it makes me happy that this song focuses more on the whole group and doesn't have Kanae singing almost every line in the song, whether it's a group line, solo line, duet line, etc. :P

And daaaaang, that last part I was NOT expecting. 9nine versus 9nine!!! Even though it may seem cheesy... I found to TOTALLY SUPER AWESOME! <333333333 (Hehehe, 9 hearts!)

I think that both the song and PV are worthy of anyone's attention, and in my opinion is a step up from their last single, though that one wasn't all bad. This is just TO good for me! :D

Idol groups Idoling!!!, ℃-ute, 9nine, SUPER☆GiRLS, AeLL are coming together to perform on the same stage for two nights only as part of a fashion event called “Japan Girls Meeting 2011”. As part of the event, the groups will perform on stage in individual mini lives. The live event will from May 21 to 22 at the Tokyo EPSON Shinagawa Aqua Stadium.

AeLL will be featured in a separate post, so please look forward to it.

9Nine Releases SHINING☆STAR PV

9Nine are back with a new single "SHINING☆STAR"."SHINING☆STAR" which hits the stores on March 9, is the opening theme for the anime “STAR DRIVER Kagayaki no Takuto.”

The single will come in four different versions: “First Production Limited Edition”, “Regular Edition”, “Regular Edition (First Production Specification)”, and “STAR DRIVER Edition”.

The musician/song writer side of me really enjoys this song, the music, vocal arrangements and the use of different costumes and locations, show that a lot of thought went into the song production and the mind of the video director.

For 9Nine fans, this is a video and song to be proud of.

9nine have been doing a few live events recently and yesterday they held another live for 1,000 fans .In this fan event they performed their new single “Cross Over” and their fan named “propeller dance” which is becoming very popular with their fans.

Probably the most famous of all their members currently, the rising star in the actress community Kawashima Umika, commented, “I’m happy too, because we don’t have many chances to meet our fans. Today was a fun day for us to be able to communicate with the fans.”

The members said that their next goal is to perform on music shows, something they have yet to do under their current lineup.

9nine also have a major goal to achieve and one that they are receiving large support from, the super group Perfume.

Now I know your about to say huh! Perfume? , you see there is a very special and personal bond between the two groups .9nine member Nishiwaki Sayaka, is the sister of Perfume’s A~chan. Their  major goal is to follow in big sister’s footsteps and play the Tokyo Dome. Sayaka after the recent sold out Perfume Tokyo Dome concert, made the following statement “My sister recently reached the Dome, after 10 years. I also want to do the same someday.” “Our goal is to get on a music program. Kouhaku Uta Gassen? Maybe not this year, but we will definitely aim for it next year“.

With their fire of determination and a clear set of goals announced, we can all watch over these young women in their desire to perform at the Tokyo Dome! and to reach Kouhaku.

9nine [pronounced nine] is a group that was formed in 2006 under LesPros Entertainment and originally consisted of nine junior high school girls. Since their debut release in 2006, 9nine have released two albums, four maxi singles and eight mobile singles.

 They have experience in several media areas such as magazine models, actresses and variety regulars. 9Nine released their first single Sweet Snow on 14 February 2006 and suffered their first member losses in 2007 with the graduation of three original members, while adding two new members.

In December 2007, Kato Rubi was removed from the group after pictures surfaced of her in a relationship with Hey! Say! JUMP member, Takaki Yuya. In March 2009, another three members graduated making eight departures since their debut

Recently they pushed a reset button and made a change of labels and a fresh start as a group.Currently there are five members Yoshii Kanae (17) and Murata Hirona (13) together with the three remaining original members: Satake Uki (18), Nishiwaki Sayaka (18) and Kawashima Umika (16) and on October 11th they started their own TV show on Tokyo MX-TV called GO!GO!9nine .
On December 1 they will release their restart single called “Cross Over” that is currently being used as the ending theme song for the anime “STAR DRIVER Kagayaki no Takt.

“Cross Over” was directed by UGICHIN who has directed videos for such artists as Amuro Namie, Aqua Timez, SCANDAL to name a few.

This is a first class video by a young group, looking to head in the right direction after a number of missteps. “Cross Over” is another of the current neo-idol fresh taste songs that is taking the genre in new directions and leaving the old work horse agencies ,scrambling to catch up.

With AKB48 leading the rise of the next generation of female JPOP idols, now is the best time since the mid 80`s or early Morning Musume era, for an idol group to debut or go major. The market is hungry for new fresh faces, groups and ideas.

9nine with their restart are headed in the right direction at last. 9nine are worth a chance and could be  a name on the rise in the years to come.
