The Queens of Female Idol genre have passed a new record for sales in a month .Everyday, Kachuusha has now sold 1.52 million copies in four weeks  ,making it the first single to pass 1.5 million copies in five and a half years. By the way, KAT-TUN’s Kamenashi Kazuya and NEWS‘ Yamashita Tomohisa were the last artists to accomplish this  mark with collaboration single.

AKB48 also broke the record for female artists as the last time 1.5 million was reached by a female artist was eleven years ago by MISIA.

It`s also the 5th time in four weeks that this single has broken a record . Congratulations are in order as the single is now pushing forward to the possible but challenging 2 million mark.

The current Queens of Idol genre AKB48 after breaking singles record after singles record , have now broke an album record that will likely stir the emotions of two veteran idol camps.

AKB48`s album “Koko ni Ita Koto”  has sold a   very impressive 602,000 copies in a single week. By doing so AKB48 has broken Morning Musume`s 11 year hold for first week album sales by a female group ,when Morning Musume  sold 578,000 copies [863,000 + overall] in one week with “3rd-LOVE Paradise"  .

AKB48 also managed to defeat EXILE for the highest sales for an album to date this year.
Incase your wondering if this is just another marketing trick ? ,it is not ,this album does not include any promotional tickets .Now the question is will this album manage to break their record for weeks on Oricon at 62 weeks set when they released “Kamikyokutachi”.

On the singles front their single “Everyday, Kachuusha” is about to cross the 1,500,000 ,after three week sales of 1,499,000.

AKB48 has  also announced a new member Eguchi Aimi  who is quickly rising up the ranks and has endorsements already lined up . In case you have not heard, Aimi is a CGI Idol for an AKB48 endorsement campaign.

Coming on the heels of their Seibu Dome concert announcement, the women of AKB48 have officially taken the music industry here under their control.

AKB48 have broken, what many felt was an unbreakable record.

Legendary rock band Mr. Children had previously lead all of Oricon chart history with the highest single weekly sales figure at 1,208,000. Mr. Children originally set the record by the way in 1996 with “Namonaki Uta”.

AKB48 broke this record with their current single “Everyday, Kachuusha” with first week sales of 1,334,000 making it the highest single sales for a week in Japanese music history.

The group also set a second and very important  record  by having 8 consecutive #1 weekly singles  .The last female group to do this was Pink Lady 32 years ago.

Takahashi Minami released the following statement on their accomplishment
“It’s such a big honor for us (to break this record). Everyone knows that it’s all thanks to all of our fans.”

It makes no difference if you are a fan or not of this group, what they are accomplishing in this current era of record sales trends is impressive and deserves respect.

Congratulations to the members of AKB48, for breaking these prestigious records and for opening the media doors to look for fresh idol groups.

The reigning Queens of female idol genre are at it again, with an incredible opening day sales. AKB48`s new single “Everyday, Kachuusha“has sold a staggering 942,475 copies in one day. The margin of victory by AKB48 was also no less then impressive as the number two and three artists charted in at Team Amuse! 55,916 and TOKIO 9,570.

With that amount of sales coming out of the gate ,the record books of idol history are open and a new page is about to be written as AKB48 continue their golden age run.

Semi New Feature,

This is a semi new feature, it`s not really new in that we have never featured single previews before, because we have .It`s new in that I am going to do it a different way and expand it.

You know how when you watch a music video station they run previews of new releases and some you may like and some you may not ,well this is what we are going to do from now on.

At random times, I will select a few artists or groups from different genres to preview in one post. Sometimes these previews will be the latest artists releases we normally cover .Sometimes they will be JRock, Indie Idols, there will also be selected artists we have never talked about before.

All you have to do is watch the previews or download them if the video gets deleted and talk about them here on PIH as normal. If it`s an artist that we never covered before and you like the song or are already a fan, speak out. The more the artist is talked about, the greater the chance they will enter our group coverage.


In this preview we have C-ute`s “Momoiro Sparkling“ which will be released on May 25 ,AKB48`s 2011 summertime swimsuit single “Everyday Kachuusha” also due out on May 25 and a new artist to PIH Hinaco and her third single and the drama “Kazokuhoutei” theme song “Kaerimichi Diary” .This single will come out on June 15
