AKB48 Donates Again 600 Million Yen + 218 Location CM Campaign.

AKB48 Donates Again 600 Million Yen + 218 Location CM Campaign.

Fresh off the heels of their very generous 500 million yen donation to the Japanese Red Cross, AKB48 has made a second donation, this time for 600 million yen (approximately $7.37 million USD) to the Japanese Red Cross.

AKB48 announced this wonderful gift at a press conference at the Third Okinawa International University Film Festival on the 26th. They also announced the group would be the promotion campaign group for the upcoming election for Tokyo’s new governor. AKB48 will run ads at 218 locations across Tokyo and as part of the campaign, their single “Heavy Rotation”; will be shown once every six minutes starting April 1 at the 218 locations.

  2. tsunku company has donated already.

But i'm not gonna defend UFA, but we can't judge people on how much they donate or how publicly they do it.

  3. @RYO I thought this blog wasn't about bashing other idols, or their agencies!! besides the only reason that some announce it publicly is to gain some popularity.Basically its like bragging to the media. Gact and other stars have also donated but they didn't say how much either!

  4. I'm not bashing anyone, but i just find it baffling why UF groups is keeping mum on this. perhaps they are doing something in secret and does not want anyone to know.

But if it is any good talent agency, record company or media publication, it should not overlook any opportunity for publicity, especially one that is best for upgrading its image which is charity. Bragging you might say, but you have to play the game in showbiz. there is no escape. even wotas in 2ch are bashing UFA left and right for their silence.

As for how much the other stars donated, even if they do not want to reveal, the press have somehow investigated and revealed how much each has donated. artists, singers, and even comedians have already donated a substantial amount.

    peace

  5. @ryo Hello project groups have blogged about how they donated. Heck even s/mileage did a charity event..... but I must agree on how UF should not overlook this opportunity but now that I realize.. Correct me if im mistaken but UF has had a change in the boss area, and since that new boss came in a lot has changed. Even funding for pvs has dereased since the new boss came in. And at your last statement!! X0 It sounded like people have to donate a "substantial" amount to get recognized by the media. which is lame they should cover on how their citizens and everyone else is conserving energy and doing "WHAT THEY CAN" to help their nation in need. I was touched to read a blog post about a family going to sleep at around 7 or 8 just so they don't have to turn on the lights when the sun goes down.
Ps. Im actually blaming the media for not covering good deeds on the news but instead their obsessed to know who gave more money!

  6. @twinheart2... agreed with what you said there, especially about the press more concerned on "who gave more". It's a battle of fame that sometimes celebrities are made to feel "obligated" to put up a show. Parts and parcel of showbiz i guess. I am not aware of the boss change within UFA though, but if it is true, that could be another reason.

One more thing I am sorry not to include in my last comment - Wouldn't it be really nice to know if the managing company of our favourite idols are actually doing something for people during dire times? Any form of gesture would be just fine. Now, there may come a time in the future when UF finally reveal what they have been donating in secret. Heck, maybe the Musume girls donated via Red Cross or something. If that is true, then i will then bow down in humility.
But the silence that they are displaying now is just not very.... encouraging. If you know what i mean.

    Peace

  7. i think morning museum would have donated much more than akb if it was 10 years ago when they are top idol group.

  8. Wow... just how much more can AKB48 donate?!

  9. @Ryo it seems that the girls donated to the red cross themselves-talking about morning musume. And some have made well im not sure what to call it but it seems like they did a donation/charity on their blogs and asked fans to donate through it. Reina mentioned about buying ballons and that the money was to go to japan. XD I have no idea what she meant until I went to the site and it is a game in AMEBLO that their character could purchase ballons and that the money would go to japans re-construction. HAHAHA I couldn't imagine Reina buying ballons. It seems that the girls themselves decided not to wait for their company to tell them to donate!! Instead they did it on their own will which makes me love them even more!!! yes I said it love!!as a fan ofcourse XD.
But anyways its nice to know that akb48 is giving some quatity to japn although I hope they don't give too much cuz they have almost 200 girls and they all need to be paid for their hard work.

  10. One of the first things that AKB did after the earthquake was to hold a press conference to announce sponsoring and starting a public bank account and donation charity drive .So it`s a mix of the 48`s money and donations they have collected .

There are just some artists and companies that currently command more media attention, magazine and paper sales and television rankings then others right now.

Media will always go with the artists or stories that will make their company the most headlines and revenue.

It doesn`t make the charity work the rest of us are doing less important, just the headlines are not as big.
