Idol Round Up #2

Idol Round Up #2

Time to take another spin around the world of Idol Genre

SUPER GiRLS have an outstanding new release ,while i am not a big fan of the group ,I find myself drawn to the group this time by their costumes as i like outfits with touches of military , ceremonial guard aspects and these outfits give that feeling .
There are no rights or wrongs in music , just the creating of memories in people’s hearts and every video, photo that a group makes will say different things to different people.
The PV has a little bit of everything , fire ,idol close ups, water , creative fan service teases and more.

BiS Marathon
Not long ago the girls from BiS held an impressive and grueling live promotion a 24hr live event. The event saw the group entertain their fans for 24 hours ,battling fatigue and insanity at the same time.
The event was broadcast ,for those who could not attend .Here is a look back at the madness. Credit to the group for figuring out stuff to do.

To finish off this episode a look at

Tsunku-San`s idol army of the Akihabara Backstage Pass Café .
And Tsunku in his wonderful wisdom has allowed them to audition for Morning Musume with one making it to the 11 gen final bunch. I think that is a great idea ,with the strength of idol genre being what it is now ,if you can bring in girls who have experience at any level into your ranks ,it allows you to reload at a faster rate

Oh i can`t end this without mentioning this unit is cuteness overload

With their own weekly and highly entertaining television show out of their fantastic cafe, the girls of Backstage Pass are collecting a solid following. Really if you ever get to come over to visit , you have to see this café.

SUPER☆GiRLS Draws 5,000 Fans

Recently the idol group SUPER☆GiRLS drew 5,000 fans for a free live concert and handshake event.
The event took place on January 9th at Yoyogi Park .As part of the live event the group performed their new release “Everybody JUMP!!” from the album of the same name , which encouraged the fans to jump with them in support.
The group plans to hold a summer tour, create a fan club and get invited to the 2012 Kouhaku Uta Gassen.
After a slow start this group has really been making a name for themselves, and have a solid and growing fan base.  2012 looks to be a great year for the group.

SUPER☆GiRLS Debut Single

SUPER☆GiRLS Debut Single

After recently releasing their debut album, Avex Idol group SUPER☆GiRLS have released their debut single "Ganbatte Seishun".

"Ganbatte Seishun", is a cute song that at first look reminds me of something that early AKB48 would do.

This is a good comeback track for a group who did not get off to a strong start.

"Hatsukoi Graffiti" is just a two-minute member close up video preview.

"Ganbatte Seishun"

"Hatsukoi Graffiti"

"Ganbatte Seishun" will be released on March 23 and it will be released in six different editions.

There is a reason why the SUPER☆GiRLS are wearing the costumes they are in "Ganbatte Seishun" .Recently the group signed a deal with Tomy for special collaboration project Fashion Doll called “Jenny” .The costumes that SUPER☆GiRLS are wearing are the same as the “Jenny” doll.
This year was the 25th anniversary for the “Jenny” doll and for 2011 Tomy decided that
They would design a “school girl” fashion theme for the brand.

SUPER☆GiRLS will also be featured on the TV Tokyo anime series” Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream” as the ending theme starting in April.

SUPER☆GiRLS: Take Over Nico Nico Douga

SUPER☆GiRLS: Debut In Trouble?

SUPER☆GiRLS: Debut In Trouble?

A troubling development has come out in regards to the SUPER☆GiRLS .Avex has announced that concert events scheduled for December 23 at the Namba Hatch in Osaka and January 9 at the Nippon Seinenkan in Tokyo after the release of their debut album have been canceled . Due to lower then expected ticket sales.

With more experienced and even younger idol groups going with singles releases over albums to create a fan base has Avex which is not an idol agency put this release in sales trouble by not having three or four maxi singles leading up to this album ,to create a fan base ?

With their debut album "Chouzetsu Shoujo," scheduled for release on December 22, SUPER☆GiRLS didn`t need their concert tour already starting to be canceled, before the album comes out.

Given this turn of events, a close watch on this unit and it`s future is needed.

Let us all hope that things can turn around for this promising new unit and that Avex does not decide to do something foolish like ,loose faith in them.

SUPER☆GiRLS: Who Made That Costume Again?

SUPER☆GiRLS: Who Made That Costume Again?

Ever wonder who designs the costumes that major idol groups wear on stage? I bet your saying to yourself it`s some cool, hip, major designer after all major companies have, major funding right?

Not so fast my friends ,the 48`s use a design school and the SUPER☆GiRLS also used a design school for their costumes .For the SUPER☆GiRLS black and gold costumes they teamed up with the Tokyo based Mode Gakuen school.

The students sent in 400 submissions, and the winning design was created in three different pattern styles to make up their black and gold costumes. The fabric itself came from the Meiji Era (established in 1905) fabric maker  Miyuki Keori, who specially made the color checked fabric for the group.

To say thank you to the hard working students, SUPER☆GiRLS took part in a mini live + fashion show. Avex announced that this was also the first time the brand new idol group had been exposed to modeling, an that the group showed their best to the fans despite the fact that the members being nervous.

SUPER☆GiRLS: Debut Campaign

SUPER☆GiRLS: Debut Campaign

SUPER☆GiRLS have started a major record store campaign to support their December 22 debut album release, “Chouzetsu Shoujo“.

At TSUTAYA stores, they have been added to list of “Idol Festival” artists for 2010/2011. Their promotion will be that whenever a customer buys a CD from one of the idols on the list, they will be entered to win a SUPER☆GiRLS alarm clock. Only five of these will be available.

At HMV the group will appear in their free paper , “HMV the music & movie master“ ,they will also have their special online page and if you buy the album you can enter a lottery to win a handwritten Valentine’s Day card from their favorite member! To top it all off, they will be a part of the “HMV Idol Gakuen” campaign that will feature an exhibit in each HMV store of handwritten comment cards from the idols.

At Shinseido, you have a chance for autographed nameplates from the idol group along with a photo set where they each wore member their own name sign .12 will be given away. Five fans will have a chance to win an autographed photo set.

At Mu-mo, a special live event with the group will be held.

At Yamano and Tower a special live event with the group will be held

I cannot speak for everyone; however, I can name a few groups that could learn from the new idols coming up about marketing.

With promotions starting a month before their debut release, SUPER☆GiRLS look set to have a strong debut.

SUPER☆GiRLS: Miracle ga Tommanai! PV [Special Release]

UPDATE YOUTUBE VERSION NOW UP

SUPER☆GiRLS have released their debut single Miracle ga Tommanai! Through USTREAM, .The release came at the end of a mini live handshake event that was aired through their official channel.
SUPER☆GiRLS are regular users of that service and worth keeping in your links file. Only down side is that they do not keep their archive footage for a long time.

As for the video it`s your standard idol PV of the H!P standards that is a mix of close-ups and group shots , with CGI artwork .If you remember the gave up on H!P Taiwan unit Ice-cream Musume`s debut PV ,AVEX has followed that pattern some.

SUPER☆GiRLS are not blessed with the best singers in the world , yet that has never been a requirement for JPOP Idol genre .The industry has a number of weak singers and their success speaks for themselves.

What they do have is idol cuteness and a vocal mix of talent that blends well into a pleasing viewing and listening experience.

Hard to say how long this special release will be up, so if your interested in this group , check it out ,while you can .You won’t be disappointed in the overall single.

Tokyo Idol Festival Broadcast

In August, I posted about the 30+-idol group, 8 venue Tokyo Idol Festival . The TV broadcast was aired recently and you can watch it here from the link at the end of the post.

As there are a number of parts to this and with Youtube`s record of deleting I am going to supply a link instead of posting all the parts.

To review
http://pureidolheart.blogspot.com/2010/07/tokyo-idol-festival.html

TIF was an Idol Festival held on August 7-8 for Idol groups not in Hello!Project or with 48 after their name . In some ways, it was like Disneyland for wotas ,two days of Idol groups ,fan events , idol games and concerts .

There are 100`s of Idol groups and  agencies in J-POP Idol genre and most of us have nothing to do with H!P or the 48`s as a higher percentage of J-POP Idol groups and agencies are in the Independent ranks . Which has it`s own culture and ways of doing things and depend heavily [embrace] on wotas, active touring ,free events and festivals such as these along with regional, cable and satellite network programs .

Many of these groups are some of the best-kept secrets in Japan ,which is one reason why this event was started to showcase and promote these idols.

Some of the main groups at the festival that we have talked here on PIH were Idoling!!! , SUPER*GIRLS, Tokyo Girls` Style,Afilia Saga East and Momoiro Clover.

Event roster is here ,if you cannot read Japanese well , the pink boxes will take you to the group’s homepages .

If your willing to give them a chance and experience this genre from outside of what H!P or the 48`s have to offer , there are some really some good groups at the festival and you will enjoy this broadcast.

By the way Idoling!!! Brought their sub units as well, so Idoling!!! Members show up several times. The girls also are part of special units under their management companies

AVEX Super Girls Audition Video Part 1

AVEX Super Girls Audition

One of the best times to be an idol fan is auditions. The genre is designed to create new fresh and young idols and  groups to replace aging  idols or groups  who reach 20+ ,often around 25 is old age for an Idol as wotas like all things youthful and cute.

As we are not from the looks of it going to get new auditions from Morning Musume, AVEX has provided us with some clips of the recent Super Girls audition.

I will be posting this in parts with around six-eight videos each part. Most are around 5 minutes, so we only get a brief look at the auditions.
